CHAPEL COTTAGE, HARCOMBE

Built in 1640 and originally the site of the local chapel, Chapel Cottage has been owned by my family for generations, forming as it did part of the estate of Sand in Sidbury, home to the Huyshe family for over 500 years.

It has been described as the ultimate chocolate box thatched cottage, a 17th century picture postcard, nestling in its own grounds in a secluded lane in the hamlet of Harcombe.  Part of the East Devon Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Harcombe lies less than three miles inland from Sidmouth and its two beaches offering everything from sand and rock pools, and safe paddling, to comfy deckchairs and clifftop gardens.

With its inglenook fireplace for cosy winter fires, large garden for al fresco summer meals, masses of daffodils and primroses in the spring and spectacular views of countryside which glows gold in the autumn, Chapel Cottage is welcoming whichever season you choose for your visit.
